10 Questions for Max Bolster

1. What is your best childhood memory?
When I was a kid I used to spend summers at my grandparent’s home in the desert of Southern California. I would help my grandfather water his plants every morning before it got too hot. During the day I would play outside until I couldn’t take the heat anymore. I would go inside to cool off & my grandmother would give me some icecold sun tea. Then I would go back outside again.

2. If you had a chance for a “do-over” in life, what would you do differently?
I don’t know if I would really do it if I really had a do-over because I am happy with my life, but I do sometimes wish that I would have taken the opportunity I had to go to the Air Force Academy.

3. What do you feel most proud of?
My kids without a doubt. I think that all three are a benefit to our society. Our nephew Eddie is 34 & has little two boys. He is a Marine stationed in Beaufort, SC. Mary is 26 & is a 6th grade teacher in Aiken, SC. Her first baby is due next March. Brian is 23 & is in his first year as an EC teacher at Watauga High School. He also helps coach the football team. Alex is 21 and still searching for his career path, but is a great kid.

4. What is your favorite music?
I have an eclectic taste in music, but I do love 80’s music. Especially U2 & Peter Gabriel. I also enjoy alternative country & jazz, but I can’t listen to same type of music all the time.

5. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
I would like to go to Europe and Israel. There is just so much history there that I would like to explore.

6. What is your favorite movie?
I really love The Godfather. The story of Michael’s turn to darkness is fascinating. I remember when I was 8-years old going to the theatre to see it & thinking that I was all grown up because I got to see The Godfather.

7. How do you spend your free time?
I watch a lot of sports & Netflix. As A Dodger fan I am having to stay up way past my bed time to watch their playoff run. Now that we are empty nesters my wife & I also watch Netflix. The most recent show that we have really enjoyed is “The Fall”.

8. What was your most embarrassing moment?
When I was in college I was in the library studying, when suddenly the chair just collapsed. I got up, looked around to see if anyone saw. Then just slid the destroyed chair under the table & moved to the next chair. I’m sure that if this happened now I’d wind up on YouTube & within an hour I’d be going “viral” .

9. If you could witness any event of the past, present or future, what would it be?
The assassination of Abraham Lincoln would be interesting to see as well as the aftermath. Maybe I could try to stop it to see how the history of the world would have changed, but then maybe I wouldn’t have been born, so I better just watch.

10. What was one of your most defining moments in life?
Probably when I was voted the most valuable player on my high school football team. As a kid I didn’t have a lot of confidence & was very shy. I had worked very hard to be the best player I could be & this help prove to me that I could be good at something if I worked at it.
